BASF, the world¡¯s leading chemical company, has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with East China University of Science and Technology (ECUST) to jointly develop a training curriculum that helps to raise sustainability standards among suppliers in China, enhancing their competitiveness in domestic and global markets.

This program aims to provide structured training to about 2,000 BASF suppliers in China over the next five years. It will cover key topics including environmental protection, health and safety, labor, and human rights, as well as governance and management.

¡°China plays a vital role in BASF¡¯s global supplier network and we have developed a number of programs to raise sustainability awareness and action among our suppliers. By combining our resources with ECUST, we can better support the efforts of Chinese suppliers to improve their capabilities and achieve world-class sustainability standards,¡± said Fried Muenstermann, President of BASF¡¯s Global Procurement.

East China University of Science and Technology is one of the most prestigious universities in the field of chemistry in China. The university has a leading position in multiple relevant disciplines including Pollution Control, Resource Recovery and Utilization, Conversion, Process and System Engineering, and Chemical Engineering. In addition to the EMBA and MBA programs, the Business School of ECUST is widely recognized for its strong emphasis on subjects such as business ethics and corporate social responsibility in educating and shaping new generations of Chinese managers and executives.

¡°BASF is a long term partner with ECUST in research programs and scholarships. I am delighted to see our partnership deepened with this new supplier training program,¡± said Yang Xianjin, Party Secretary of East China University of Science and Technology. ¡°With BASF¡¯s experience and track record in supplier management, we believe this training course will provide practical tools for suppliers in the Chinese chemical industry to enhance their long-term competitiveness.¡±
